be they palm, ash or oak, or my childhood dream,

the eucalyptus.

round and round in the sky

as the afternoon air elevates.

the wind rolling them to rest.

The evening dogs in suburbia bark and yap,

and the trees, gentle now in their whispers,

put themselves to sleep.
